Family Violence & Sexual Assault (FVSA) Trauma Centres
Rape
survivors and victims of physical violence are urged not to wash or change
their clothes, but to rush to the nearest of our Trauma Centres, situated at
Tshilidzini and Donald
Fraser Hospitals.
These Centres provide a One-Stop, 24-hour service. At these centres, our
clients can make a statement to the police (if they wish), receive
counselling and practical advice from our trained debriefers, and be medically
examined at any time of the day or night. We never close! Rape survivors are
also offered anti-retroviral therapy (ART), at no cost, to reduce the risk of
HIV infection, and are visited at their homes by our Nurses and Field Workers,
who give further support where needed.
